Austro Prussian War Sketch by Beer

Great little sketch signed by W.A. Beer. (1837-1907). This sketch by him has a description of the event on the bottom. While it is difficult to make out, I can clearly see the city name "Helmstadt". This sketch likely represents a scene from the 1866 Austro Prussian War and the battle of Helmstadt in which Prussian forces fought against Bavarian forces. The troops shown in the sketch appear to be Prussian as the Prussian 1847 pattern Pickelhaube can clearly be seen. Beer was a Frankfurt artist and this recently sourced from a Frankfurt estate. Measures approximately 16x10.5 inches. A great little sketch for a library or collection room.
