Button Mold for the 66th Princess Louise Fusiliers

A rather unique piece of button history and the only example I have ever seen. This is the stamp for producing the small size 66th PLF button. I believe this mold would fit into a machine that would stamp out the buttons. Interestingly the the two 6 numerals are not quite the same. I suspect that this was defective and was discarded or has been used so much that the design has been altered. Either way a very unique piece for the military button collector. Measures approximately 3.5 cm across. Dates from late 19th century, early 20th.
