Fantastic grouping attributable to Capt. Stanley Durland Smith of Digby county Nova Scotia. Grouping consists of a 1944 dated and named and C broad arrow stamped bd. A 1944 dated and C broad arrow stamped undershirt. 1944 dated and C broad arrow stamped pair of bd pants. A wedge cap with West Nova badge. Also included is numerous pamphlets, messenger books, etc., all named to Smith. The battledress has canvas West Novi, Canada and 1st Div patches. Smith was wounded twice. Once in Sicily in 43 and a second time in Italy in 1944. The last time resulted in an amputation of his leg. Interestingly this battledress came with slip on Captains rank insignia. Normally only seen on the khaki tropical uniforms seen in Italy. The slip ons are made from bd wool material. An attributable grouping like this rarely comes up these days.
