Parchment Discharge Certificate 15th Regiment of Foot

Interesting parchment certificate for a soldier in the 15th Regiment of Foot, 158 Private Charles Jacob's. It is signed by Hastings Doyles who was a Royal Navy officer at the time and would go on to be the first Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick and the 2nd post confed Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. He enlisted on the 20th October, 1854 and was discharged after paying the required £10 in St. John, New Brunswick on the 15th of April, 1866. The same month as the Fenian invasion at Campobello Island. Listed as conduct good. Place of residence is listed as Eel River, New Brunswick. An interesting piece of New Brunswick history. These are not usually found from this period.
