Pre Confederation First Halifax Engineers Belt Buckle Half

Exceedingly rare belt buckle half for the First Halifax Engineers. According to Egan in his book: "The Halifax Volunteer Battalion", the Halifax Engineers were present at the formation of the Halifax Volunteer Battalion in 1860. They however did not form part of that organisation as it was focused on infantry and rifle regiments. There was also a Dartmouth Engineers. As there were at least a couple of battalions of this regiment. It is in excellent condition for its age and has a rather crude appearance to it, lacking a bit of detail. Quite possibly this was cast in Halifax in the mid 19th century. It is the only specimen I have seen in close to 30 years. A possibly unique piece of Halifax, Nova Scotia military history.
