HMCS St. Croix Lamp

Price: $165.00

Very poignant piece of Canadian naval history. This piece consists of a 30mm shell mounted as a lamp on a piece of bakelite. It has it's original cord. On the front is a plaque that simply says: "HMCS St Croix 1943". Under command of A/ Lt. Cdr. Andrew Hedley Dobson on the night of September 20th, 1943 she sunk by U-305. 81 of the survivors were picked up by HMS Itchen. The Itchen was subsequently torpedoed by U-952. Of the 81 survivors of the St. Croix only one remained. 146 men of the St. Croix lost their lives in 1943. This piece produced the year of the loss of the St. Croix is in untouched condition. Not sure if it actually is in working condition as I choose to leave it in original condition.
